** Their Majesties have commanded Their Curia be held at this event at 10:00 AM **

Oyez!  Oyez!  The Barony of Bergental would like to announce the retirement of Baron Rob and Baroness Emma from the lands they have held in good service to the Crown of the East.  To restrain displays of drama and tears, as Their final act, They have proclaimed a Festival Day to be held in honor of the Investiture of Their Heir, Johannes filius Nicholai!

All neighbors, allies, and noteworthy foreigners are hereby invited to attend!  There will be games, silliness, crafts, races, and food to please commoner and royalty alike!  Prizes and accolades will go to glorify participants of all ages!  Come one and all to a fun day filled with laughter and joy!

And there’s more!

To add to the fun and please our soon-to-be Baron, we are joining the Gastroparesis Pie-the-Face Challenge* (a charity close his heart).  Challenge your friends!  Dare a Duke!  Provoke a peasant!  Taunt a Tudor!  Defy a Dane!  Sue a Swede!  (Particulars TBA, watch this space!  Garb- and chapeau-protecting fixture is in the works so anyone can participate with confidence)

A tournament for the honor of serving as armored Baronial Champion will be held.  The tournament will challenge the prowess and chivalry of all comers wishing to serve!  An open field is provided for other possible challenges to be announced.

A tournament for the Baronial Fencing Champion will also be held, run by the current Champion, Lord Katsumoto.  Combatants do not have to vie for the Championship, but any who can attend Bergental events and wish to serve please tell the MOL.  Points will be for wins with no points added for losses.

Pre-registration is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for the purpose of estimating food quantities for the dayboard.  Please be kind to the cook!  Email the event steward with how many are in your party, their names and membership numbers (where applicable).

Take your best route to I-91 toward Springfield
Take exit 3 for US-5 N toward MA-57/W Springfield
Take the MA-57 exit toward Agawam/Southwick
At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto the 57 W ramp to Agawam W/Southwick W
Keep left to continue on MA-57 W
Turn right onto MA-187 N/MA-57 W/S Westfield St (signs for Feeding Hills)
Turn left onto Southwick St (Still 57)
Site is on the left, less than a mile down the road.

Hotels in Springfield are nice and priced to match.  There are several hotels in Enfield, CT that are reasonable and not far from the site.  There is also a Quality Inn in Westfield that is close and reasonable, but not near I-91.

There are many restaurants in the area worth speaking of with good reviews and prices.  I am frankly fascinated with Kaptain Jimmy’s Microbrewery (and pirate-themed dining), but there is also everything from Friendly’s to Bamboo Garden (casual authentic Vietnamese) to our favorite, Munich Haus (German classics) in Chicopee.  All are within 30 minutes of the site.
